A useful production-line drawing begins with the process sequence, not with empty floor area. The layout should help operators move workpieces logically while keeping control panels, service points and chemical-handling areas accessible.
Turn the process into stations
List every step from incoming prepared work to final inspection. For each stage, record batch size, normal process time, transfer method, rinse requirement and inspection point. This reveals where one machine can serve several stages and where parallel capacity may be required.
Find the practical bottleneck
Compare usable batch capacity and cycle time across preparation, electroforming, rinsing, core removal, stripping and recovery. Include loading, unloading, cleaning and routine checks. The slowest recurring stage sets practical output, even when the main tank has spare volume.
Build a utility schedule
Before equipment positions are fixed, confirm:
- electrical supply and distribution;
- water quality and consumption;
- heating and cooling requirements;
- drainage and solution-transfer boundaries;
- extraction and fume-treatment connections; and
- compressed air or other project-specific services.
Place connection points where they remain accessible after installation. Local professionals must confirm building, electrical, environmental and occupational requirements.
Protect movement and maintenance space
Map how people, racks, chemicals and finished parts move through the room. Avoid unnecessary crossing between clean and wet-process activities. Check operating aisles, door swings, control-panel access and the space needed to remove pumps, filters or heaters for service.
Also check the delivery route. Doorways, corridors, elevators and turning areas may determine whether equipment is shipped assembled or in modules.
Separate functional zones
Depending on the approved process, establish clear zones for preparation, wet processing, controls, chemical storage, recovery and inspection. Place emergency and environmental provisions according to local requirements and the chemical supplier’s instructions.
Reserve a logical expansion point
Future capacity is easier to add before floors, drains and electrical distribution are complete. Identify which stage is most likely to need another tank or station and leave usable access and connection space near that point.
Information needed for a layout discussion
Send the metal system, jewelry dimensions, batch target, required process stages, utility information and a dimensioned room drawing. Mark columns, doors, windows, drains and areas that cannot be used.
